The full moon of August 3, 2020 is highly auspicious, enhancing connections with other human beings, as well as with our innermost selves. Its expansive light has the power to heighten our intuition and sharpen our listening skills. Amidst the chaos, it can help us tune in to a higher collective frequency that is emerging as the old systems fail.
This sacred full moon (8:39 a.m. PT) falls in the area of the sky known as Shravana, the star of learning. Symbolized by the celestial ear of the universe, Shravana allows the messages that always surround us, but we sometimes cannot hear, to finally reach our ears. Now is the time to listen to your inner voice and follow its wisdom.

Also called Shravana Purnima, this full moon amplifies the power of human connectivity and spiritual community. In India, it is celebrated as Rakhi Bandhan, a day when sisters tie a sacred thread around their brothers’ wrists to symbolize the family ties that bind them. It is also the birthday of the goddess Gayatri, the mother of the Gods and protector of sacred knowledge.
While the Shravana full moon illuminates connection, it can also show us where that may be lacking in our lives. Whether it’s family, romantic, friendship, or spiritual connection, take a moment to reflect on where and how you might strengthen your ties with others. While we have to remain socially distanced for the near future, we can still come together on the phone or via the internet, or at outdoor gatherings where people wear masks.
In this time of extreme uncertainty and volatility, it’s important to support one another and establish networks that can survive outside of the traditional systems. This is a potent time for trading goods, growing food together, and building community kitchens. This Shravana full moon supports the principle of cooperation and underscores the fact that we are all, to some degree, interdependent.
On the day of the full moon, passionate Venus will be conjunct adventurous Rahu, magnifying Venus’s materialistic side. This could potentially lead to some relationship drama, if you’re dating or married, so be mindful of your emotional state and communication style in the days surrounding this full moon.
Saturn’s nearby influence could also magnify anxiety around personal and financial matters. Be sure to give yourself an extra dose of compassion, and to the extent that it feels possible, keep the faith that you will not only survive but thrive in this new and altered landscape.
Listen closely, because on this Shravana full moon, you may hear messages whispered from the deepest parts of your soul, or the highest planes of existence. If each of us, on an individual level, can attune to our own highest truth, it will be far easier for us to come together in loving, supportive community.
