Been at a standstill, delayed or caught in uncertainty? The Full Moon of June 29 (4:56 pm PT) is the perfect time to pause, reorient, and set course in a different direction.
It’s the first full moon of summer (in the Northern Hemisphere), falling just after the solstice on June 21. The word “solstice” refers to the sun’s stopping point, the time when the sun seems to pause before changing direction in its ascent. With Mercury also stationing retrograde, this Full Moon brings a powerful moment of pause and recalibration.
The Full Moon falls in the Vedic nakshatra called Purva Ashadha, the “Invincible Star,” that is symbolized by an elephant tusk. This part of the sky is connected to the elephant-headed god, Ganesha, who is revered as the Remover of Obstacles. Purva Ashadha carries the power of purification, conviction, and victory over adversity. It’s also symbolized by a winnowing basket, a tool used to separate the wheat from the chaff. This Full Moon nurtures discernment, patience, and self-trust.

Take heed, Mercury turns retrograde on June 29, just hours before the Full Moon energy peaks. When Mercury appears to stop in place (Mercury station), it can create frustration in communication, travel, and malfunction in machines and devices. During this Full Moon, you may notice misunderstandings, delays, or detours, so take things slowly; double-check plans, schedules, and important details. Mercury will move back into sidereal Gemini on July 6/7, improving clarity and revisiting issues that need attention. Mercury turns direct on July 23.
A very auspicious alignment of Jupiter and Venus is with this Mercury retrograde. Called Saraswati Yoga, after the goddess of wisdom, learning, music, and speech, this alignment supports emotional healing and inner work, as it falls in the emotional sign of Cancer.
The week following this Full Moon can be especially healing, allowing for the reclamation of lost parts of yourself and a return of old friends and support systems. Saraswati Yoga is also supportive for finishing educational projects, writing, music, and other creative actions. With Mercury retrograde, it is especially favorable for revising, editing, and improving work that is already in progress.
This is a full moon that supports patience, discernment, and the reclaiming of your life energy. Take things one step at a time and allow the process to unfold.
