The Full Moon of April 1 (7:12 pm PT) brings in a courageous push and a realignment toward a higher vision. This Full Moon coincides with Hanuman Jayanti, the celebration of the birth of the monkey god, Lord Hanuman, whose strength, courage, and devotion symbolize the triumph of dharma in times of darkness. This is a full moon for stepping up for yourself and others.

The Full Moon falls in the area of the sky called Hasta Nakshatra, which is symbolized by a hand. The golden-handed Savitr, a deity of the rising sun, reigns over this moon. This nakshatra supports actions that require manual precision and dexterity, including drawing, writing, and healing arts like acupuncture and reiki.

Just eight hours after the full moon peaks, war-centered Mars enters sidereal Pisces, breaking an explosive alignment called Rakshasa Yoga that has fueled violence and conflict since February 22. This marks a shift, but not necessarily an easy one. Mars now moves toward Saturn, the karmic debt-keeper, forming a difficult configuration known as Yama Yoga, named for the lord of death. This is a high-pressure alignment often compared to driving with the brakes on. Mars provides heat and power, while Saturn gives delay, pressure, and limits. Together they can create no-win situations with enduring conflicts.

On a collective level, Saturn in Pisces relates to crude oil and issues of waterways and seas, while Mars entering Pisces can inflame maritime tensions and instability. Mercury will join Mars and Saturn in Pisces on April 10, continuing themes of disrupted travel and trade.  A rare graha yuddha (planetary war) involving all three planets will peak on April 19.

Another important factor is Kala Sarpa Yoga, the “serpent of time.” This alignment involves all the visible planets and often coincides with key developments in larger collective issues. Kala Sarpa continues intermittently until July, adding to the sense that humanity is moving through a significant karmic passage and a period of collective pressure.

There’s also relief in the days up ahead. Saturn is now beginning to emerge from a difficult two-week conjunction, a condition in which a planet becomes obscured in the rays of the Sun. Saturn’s combustion is especially difficult because Saturn and the Sun are natural enemies. Saturn’s alignment with the sun may have felt exhausting, disorienting, and heavy. Luckily, the veil is lifting; as Saturn slowly emerges, clarity and positivity can return as well.

The Sun represents the atma, or soul, and it is the symbol of righteous King Ram. Lord Hanuman is the greatest devotee who served Lord Ram and helped him defeat the demons that threatened dharma in the Ramayana. This Full Moon is especially powerful for reconnecting with courage, devotion, discipline, and selfless service.

Listening to the Hanuman Chalisa under this full moon can help strengthen a positive attitude, clear obstacles before you, and inspire courageous actions. The Full Moon of Hanuman Jayanti serves as a reminder that in times of conflict, acts of selfless service and care matter more than ever.
